En savoir plus sur le livre
When one sees the narrow Saale valley at Jena one wouldn't think that a university town of approximately 100,000 inhabitants could fit into the space between the chalk slopes on either side of the river. Jena is now, however, more than the preserved romantic sections of the old town centre that are found documented in Luther's works, in Schiller's works or Zeiss' microscopes. Residential and trade areas, training and research centres, industrial buildings and sport grounds, they all stretch along the river in both directions. The pulsating life in the valley is surrounded by the beautiful green of the wood-covered hills and colourful slopes. The book wants to invite its readers to have a closer look at the history and more recent development of this famous old, yet modern town and to discover new sights and to view those that are already known.
