En savoir plus sur le livre

Nick Brandt’s ongoing global series captures the shared personhood of both humans and animals, all navigating a transformed world. The subjects photographed at Senda Verde wildlife sanctuary in Bolivia have faced their own tragedies, with extreme droughts and floods ravaging homes and livelihoods. The animals, victims of habitat destruction and wildlife trafficking, are rescues that cannot return to the wild. The images depict a profound connection between people and animals, united by their shared fate. Fog serves as a unifying visual element, symbolizing the rapidly fading natural world and echoing the smoke from climate change-induced wildfires. Despite their losses, these individuals and creatures embody resilience, stepping into a new phase of existence. This collection shares their powerful stories across two volumes. Brandt, who studied painting and film in London before moving to California in 1992, has spent over two decades documenting humanity's destructive impact on nature and its repercussions for people. Chapter One features photographs from Zimbabwe and Kenya in late 2020, while Chapter Two marks his first work outside Africa, taken in Bolivia in 2022.
