En savoir plus sur le livre

Heinrich Marschner (1795-1861), one of the most popular German opera composers of his time, was a great admirer of the poetry of Robert Burns (1759-1796). He set a number of his poems to music, using German translations by Ferdinand Freiligrath (1810-1876) and Wilhelm Gerhard (1780-1858). Another Scot who aroused Marschner's interest was William Motherwell (1797-1835). Marschner used five of Motherwell's poems, translated by Heinrich Julius Heinze (1811-1860), in his song cycle "Caledon" (op. 125). Eight of these "Scottish" songs, which are among the most beautiful Marschner ever composed, are presented in this edition, each in versions for high and for low voice including the original English lyrics by Burns and Motherwell. -- -- -- The lovely lass o' Inverness (Op. 103 No. 1) / John Anderson my jo (Op. 103 No. 5) / My heart's in the Highlands (Op. 103 No. 6) / A red, red rose (Op. 103 No. 7) / Out over the Forth (Op. 107 No. 1) / He is gone (Op. 125 No. 3) / Facts from Fairyland (Op. 125 No.
