The city is set against a landscape of gentle hills, where cypress trees, olive groves, and vineyards grow. It has a population of only seven thousand inhabitants, maintaining an unmistakable medieval atmosphere due to the stone of its buildings and its fourteen pale gray stone towers. In the 21st century, the place retains the charm of a medieval town, surrounded by its old walls and clustered around the streets of San Giovanni and San Matteo, which cross it longitudinally.
