Arrian

History of Alexander and Indica I.

Évaluation du livre

En savoir plus sur le livre

This book is truly a masterpiece of Arrian, a lasting testament to his reputation. Arrian clearly articulated the importance of this book to him. He captured a fascinating subject and a magnificent opportunity. No one has written more about Alexander the Great than he has. No poet or writer has displayed such fairness. As long as the works of previous authors (writing about Alexander) contained obvious errors, the true Alexander remained obscured beneath countless contradictory claims. Arrian's work has indeed put an end to this situation. The significance of Alexander the Great is so great that Arrian did not hesitate to challenge even the great Greek envoys.
