Francesa (Chessie) is a sweet sheltered girl who wanted to escape her horrible and repressive home life by marriage. Rocco, on the other hand, wanted a nice, sweet, demure, and virgin wife who would stay home and take care of the children. From the onset, they appeared to be completely mismatched. Chessie left on her wedding day to escape who she saw as a replica of her father. Rocco instead starting searching and finally found her once she returned back to Sicily. From there, the story begins. Both are at odds with the other's expectations of married life. With some bumps along the way, they do finally find a way to make it work.
