This book is about a period of history when Britain was the largest superpower in the world. It had the greatest empire, covering one fifth of the glove and contained a quarter of the world's population. It was protected by the largest navy, produced more iron and steel than any other country and led the world technologically with its steam engines.Britain was ruled by Queen Victoria, a remarkable woman who reigned for 64 years, during which time Britain prospered and the lives of ordinary men and women changed dramatically.
