It is the first time he has heard about any conflict. A klingon Warbird has been destroyed and having picked up the dying ship's final distress call, the Klingons know for certain that it was the victim of an unprovoked Cardassian attack - something the Cardassians vehemently deny. It is all that Sisko can do to keep the two sides apart while the Federation sends a special envoy to mediate.
