A team of brilliant psychologists has assembled in a small college town to conduct a revolutionary experiment that challenges the very nature of identity and individuality. Their subjects are savants, mentally and emotionally challenged individuals, each of whom possesses an amazing gift. One person can calculate calendar dates backward and forward, while another can memorize an entire library or assemble jigsaw puzzles at the speed of lightning. Each of these very special people is flawed and psychologically handicapped, but what if five such savants are cybernetically linked together to create a sixth composite personality? Can this newly created entity be more than the sum of its parts?
