150 years of Bayer AG – this anniversary provides a reason for presenting to the general public the exclusive collection of the global concern in the Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin. It is a collection whose beginnings can be traced back to the founders of the company during the nineteenth century, and which today includes more than 2,000 works by famous artists. Its main focus lies in the fields of German Expressionism and Classical Modernism, the École de Paris and Art Informel. Numerous works by young German artists have also been afforded a place in the collection. The accompanying book brings together 240 works by 95 artists, including famous names like Max Beckmann, Georges Braque, Gerhard Richter, Ernst-Wilhelm Nay, Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, Sam Francis and Andy Warhol.
