The exhibition has been devised and selected by Elizabeth Cowling, Lecturer in History of Art at Edinburgh University, with Jennifer Mundy of the Tate Gallery's Modern Collection, and they have written this catalogue. A major revival of the classical tradition in art gathered momentum during and after the First World War, affecting many of the most radical artists of the time and causing them to modify the revolutionary styles they themselves had invented.
