Von ihr nahm das Fortleben dieses Mythos in der Weltliteratur wie in den anderen Künsten seinen Ausgang. Christopher Marlowes Tragödie, Lessing, Goethe und Thomas Mann sind die literarischen Hauptzeugen. Im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert entstehen bedeutende Gestaltungen des Stoffes für das Musiktheater.

Elle entend faire appel aux bons sentiments du roi de la viande et magnat de la conserve, Pierpont Mauler, pour soulager la misère des travailleurs de Chicago.
