Studio Image 2 sketchbook is the second in the Studio Image series by the late, world-renowned artist/visual futurist, Syd Mead. Utilizing conceptual sketches, as well as full-color illustrations, this title gives viewers a glimpse of the future through the eyes of one of the great visionaries of his time. Artwork included ranges from practical designs for products to illustrations of spacecraft and fantasy worlds. Included are workups and illustrations from the motion picture Short Circuit and the poster series commissioned for Lockheed's Advanced Tactical Fighter, as well as illustrations featured first at the time. A reissue of a lavish 16.5" x 11.75", 36-page book with 36 pieces of artwork is required for anyone who has ever had an interest in the future as Syd Mead's visions continue to be futurist decades after his artwork.

Artwork ranges from a futuristic nightclub that was built in Tokyo to sports cars, "Minolta Marina", and a lavish proposal for "Houston Center". Studio Image 1 describes in detailed pictures the process of creating animals and creatures in future environments as well as many workups for the television series "L.A. 2015". Other color illustrations describe a "Race in Spaceball" and "Voyage to the City". Also included in Studio Image 1 are the workups for Syd Mead's limited edition lithograph "The Running of the Six Drgxx". This reissue of Studio Image 3 was the long awaited third and final addition to the Studio Image series titled RGB collection. It brings together some of Syd Mead's finest full-color illustrations at the time of publication, in 1989. Never-before-seen concept drawings for theme park attractions and television shows of the time such as "Journey to the Center of the Earth", and movies like "Princess of Mars", "Aliens" and "Solar Crisis" take the viewer on a visual fantasy excursion to a place in time not yet seen by anyone other than Syd Mead.
