This very collectible full color 32-page paperback book is from the Miro collection of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia in Spain. Includes Miro chronology. Printed in Spain, imported in extremely small numbers to the US.

The exhibition and the catalog will show for the first time in Spain a selection of around 80 paintings and drawings by the Czech artist, all from the Centre Georges Pompidou, and documents from the collection of Pierre Brulle, a leading expert on Kupka, who was considered the first painter to explore the concept of abstract act. The splendid collection of works from the Centre Georges Pompidou, mostly donated by the artist's widow in 1963, shows very clearly the development of Kupka's art from his early Symbolist paintings to his final years. The Frantisek Kupka exhibition at the Foundation seeks to highlight the artist's particular contributions, such as the combination of Austrian fin-de-siecle motifs with the early avant-garde exploration of form and the depiction of movement, which very soon led him to abstraction. This sensibility means that Kupka's work occupies a leading place in the history of modern European art.

Im Rahmen seine großen Ausstellungen zeigte das Wilhelm-Hack-Museum in Ludwigshafen eine große Miró-Retrospektive. Nicht ohne Grund, denn der Künstler schuf eine monumentale Keramikfassade für das Museum. Im vorliegenden Katalogbuch werden über 130 Werke aus den Jahren 1916-1983 gezeigt. Es sind Gemälde, Grafiken, Skulpturen, Keramikarbeiten, Buchillustrationen zu A. Jarrys Ubo Roi und Arbeiten für das Theaterstück "Mori el Merma" (Figuren und Bühnenbilder). Der größte Teil der Leihgaben stammt aus dem Bestand der Fundació Joan Miró. In mehren Beirägen namhafter Autoren wird das Werk und die Bildsprache des Künstlers gedeutet. Der nach einzelnen künstlerischen Gattungen angelegte Hauptteil enthält qualitätsvolle und großformatig abgebildete Exponate mit Bildlegenden.
