Gösta Knutsson fut un producteur de radio et écrivain suédois, principalement connu pour sa populaire série de livres pour enfants mettant en scène le chat Pelle Svanslös. Ce chat au grand cœur, bien qu'assez naïf, dont la queue fut mordue par un rat dans son enfance, est devenu un personnage central de la littérature jeunesse. Knutsson situait ses récits de chats anthropomorphes dans le cadre pittoresque de la ville universitaire d'Uppsala, les peuplant d'une galerie de personnages marquants. Pelle Svanslös représentait l'alter ego de Knutsson, tandis que d'autres chats étaient inspirés de caricatures de ses connaissances, insufflant aux histoires un mélange unique de chaleur et d'esprit.

Gösta Knutsson (1908-1973) - szwedzki radiowiec i pisarz, autor książek dla dzieci. W 1936 roku został dyrektorem progra-mowym Szwedzkiego Radia w Uppsali, gdzie pracował do 1969 roku. W 1937 roku przygotował audycję o kotku Pellem (w Polsce znanym jako Filonek). Dwa lata później przygody kotka bez ogonka ukazały się drukiem i z czasem weszły do ogólnoświatowego kanonu książek dla dzieci. Knutsson jest także twórcą postaci niedźwiadka Nallego (w Polsce jego przygody opublikowało Wydawnictwo `Nasza Księgarnia` w latach 60. XX wieku w tłumaczeniu Teresy Chłapowskiej).
