Alfred Lys Baldry fut un critique d'art et peintre anglais qui poursuivit ses études à l'Université d'Oxford et au Royal College of Art. Élève d'Albert Joseph Moore, il exposa ses œuvres dans les années 1880. Il devint plus tard le biographe de Moore et, après sa mort, organisa une exposition majeure de ses œuvres. Baldry écrivit également une biographie d'Hubert von Herkomer, contribuant ainsi à la documentation du monde de l'art de son époque.
