Geoffrey Murray, a scholar at Liverpool University's Pacific Rim Research Center and an expert on China studies, and his colleague Ian Cook have long been concerned about environmental protection in China. They have together conducted in-depth research whose fruit is this book that summarizes their research results, and includes the history of environmental protection, protection of ancient heritage, policies on environmental protection, the Three Gorges project, and the project to divert water from south to north. It tells of the great efforts China has made towards environmental protection and its achievements in this field, and the challenges it still faces.
