Sharks are remarkably different from other fish. Their skeleton is made of cartilage instead of bone. Their skin is covered with raspy, toothlike scales. And contrary to popular belief, the vast majority of sharks are perfectly harmless to humans. In fact, some sharks are considered gourmet fare by seafood fanciers.
