      C. H. Spurgeon outlines the plan of salvation in such clear, simple language that everyone can understand and be drawn to the Father. Any attempt to please God based upon our own works brings only self-righteousness and coldness of heart. It is God's free grace that makes the heart glow with thankfulness for His love. This classic is summed up in Spurgeon's final cry to the reader, "Meet me in heaven!"

Exploring the interplay between laughter and sorrow, the author posits that humor can embody holiness and serve as a powerful tool against sin. The text argues for the value of laughter, particularly in its capacity to reveal earnestness in defending truth. It challenges the notion that ridicule should be relinquished to evil, advocating instead for its use as a weapon in spiritual warfare. The reflections offer a thought-provoking perspective on the role of humor in faith and moral discourse.

    • As one of the greastest expository preachers of all time, Charles Spurgeon is eminently qualified to teach on the role of the Holy Spirit in a believer's life. The amazing success of his thirty-eight-year metropolitan ministry in the city of London during the 1800s was said to have been unparalleled in England since the days of Whitefield and Wesley.Spurgeon credited his success to the powerful work of the Holy Spirit. He firmly believed that the spiritual transformations that occurred throughout the book of Acts were only the beginning of the mighty works the Holy Spirit intends to do. Declaring that Pentecost was not the pinnacle of the church's experience but only the first unveiling of what could and should happen, Spurgeon called upon believers to receive and live up to the full potential of the Holy Spirit.Life-changing messages await you. Spurgeon's teaching is so solidly biblical, so understandable, so passionate, so wonderfully visual, and so practical that one cannot help but be inspired and challenged.

This collection of C. H. Spurgeon's travel letters offer a rare insight into a different side of the famed preacher. Of the many telling phrases C. H. Spurgeon gave the world, one speaks to the way he, and his contemporaries, greatly valued letters, or what he called "gifts of the pen." He lived in a golden age of letter-writing, and helped to make it so. The best letters, he knew, are written with caring reflection, love of the written word, wit, and a vivid sense of place. His travel letters model these gifts. His love of nature, history, culture, and art live--and breathe--in these pages. Rest and recreation, on holiday, when he could follow these interests, were meaningful, renewing gifts from God. He cherished them, and needed them. They lend a special, one-of-a-kind voice to this book. With a painter's gifts, set amid the countryside of England, or places of Europe, Spurgeon's Travel Letters are eloquent, and many times moving. His "gifts of the pen" shine in them. At long last, they have a place well-deserved, a place all their own. Now, we ourselves may travel with Spurgeon--discovering the world that he knew. And we may bless God for the privilege given in these letters.

Kniha člověka dobře vyzbrojuje pro dílo získávání duší, zároveň ho dovede přímo nadchnout, aby neváhal a šířil evangelium všude kolem sebe.
