Publikace Kirsten E. Schulze předkládá nové chápání příčin, průběhu i následků arabsko-izrael­ského konfliktu. Autorka zde analyzuje dynamiku násilí a zkoumá četné pokusy o řešení tohoto konfliktu. Snaží se doložit, proč bylo v případě izrael­sko-egyptských jednání v roce 1978 nebo v případě jednání izraelsko-jordánských v roce 1994 dosaženo úspěchu a následně nastolen trva­lý mír i proč se tak nestalo v případech Izrae­le a Palestinců, Syřanů a Libanonu.
