Chronicle of the oldest and most experienced Panzer division in the Wehrmacht, and its combat throughout WWII in over 500 photos.

The German engineer troops developed out of a branch that only developed into a fighting service arm by World War II. Thus, along with the special engineers, there were also names like Assault Engineers, Armored Engineers. Out of this wide field, this new volume of photo documentation shows some 300 photos, mostly never before published, including rare pictures of bridgelaying tanks in action, mine operations, and the construction of makeshift bridges.

Horst Riebenstahl war von 1941 bis 1945 Angehöriger der Panzertruppe im Panzerregiment 1 (Friedensstandort Erfurt). Mit diesem Regiment erlebte der den Zweiten Weltkrieg bis Kriegsende - zuletzt Unteroffizier - als Panzerfahrer, hierbei im Panther 1943 bis 1945 im Süden der Ostfront.§Nach dem Kriege begann Horst Riebenstahl Fotos von der Panzertruppe mit dem Schwerpunkt Panzerregiment 1 zu sammeln. Aus diesem Fundus ist diese Dokumentation entstanden.
