After all, Des Grieux's perseverance in his devotion to Manon eventually brings about a profound change of heart in her and seems to make possible a lasting happiness based on deep mutual affection. Román o životě,lásce a smrti. Jeden z prvních francouzkých realistických románů, který vypráví nejen o velké lásce dvou mladých lidí, ale líčí také poměry ve Francii za vlády Ludvíka XV. Hrdinka románu se stala nesmrtelnou literární postavou, jež inspirovala četné další umělce, básníky, hudebníky i malíře. Byla předlohou kestejnojmené rozsáhlé básni národního umělce V. Nezvala.
