Ernst Käsemann fut un théologien marquant dont l'œuvre s'est profondément penchée sur le Nouveau Testament. Il obtint son doctorat à l'Université de Marbourg sous la direction de Rudolf Bultmann, sa thèse portant sur l'ecclésiologie paulinienne.
