Cecil Richard Rutt fut un prêtre catholique romain anglais et un ancien évêque anglican. Il consacra près de vingt ans de sa vie comme missionnaire anglican en Corée du Sud, une nation qu'il en vint à chérir profondément. Rutt représenta peut-être le dernier érudit-missionnaire d'une lignée qui établit les fondements de ce que l'on connaît aujourd'hui sous le nom d'études coréennes. Après s'être retiré en tant qu'évêque anglican, il fut reçu dans l'Église catholique romaine et ordonné prêtre.
