A directory of more than 400 organizations working in the field of conflict prevention and peacebuilding in the region is also included.

Dit boek is gebaseerd op de authentieke memoires van Jacoba van Tongeren (1903-1967) die -als enige vrouw- in de Tweede Wereldoorlog een grote verzetsgroep oprichtte en vijf jaar lang leidde: Groep 2000.Groep 2000 zorgde tussen 1940 en 1945 voor zo’n 4500 onderduikers in Amsterdam en stond aan de wieg van het blad Vrij Nederland. In plaats van namen en adressen gebruikte Groep 2000 cijfercodes waardoor vrijwel iedereen de oorlog overleefde. De Groep telde circa 140 leden; van 85 van hen is een korte biografie opgenomen.Het is uniek om het verzet gedurende de oorlogsjaren te zien door de ogen van de leidster van deze groep.
