George Moore

    George Augustus Moore fut un romancier, nouvelliste, poète, critique d'art, mémorialiste et dramaturge irlandais. Désireux de devenir peintre, il étudia l'art à Paris dans les années 1870, se liant d'amitié avec les principaux artistes et écrivains français de l'époque. En tant qu'auteur naturaliste, Moore fut parmi les premiers écrivains anglophones à assimiler les leçons des réalistes français, notamment celles d'Émile Zola. Son œuvre eut une influence considérable sur James Joyce et il est souvent considéré comme le premier grand romancier irlandais moderne.
