Jutta's small but tidy bourgeois life runs smoothly: a harmonious family life and a spotless household—what more could a woman want? Since she has no problems of her own, Jutta focuses on those of her sister Mona, a committed feminist and chaotic eccentric—essentially a real mess. Mona can only rant about men and recognizes a mop only when she trips over it. Just as Jutta begins to despair over Mona's stubbornness, she faces a different catastrophe: her family idyll collapses like a house of cards when her husband leaves her for his secretary.
