Requiem

Évaluation du livre

En savoir plus sur le livre

Faure was not inspired to compose a Requiem due to the death of a loved one, despite the passing of his mother during the early stages of composition and his father two years prior. His work does not adhere to the standard liturgical text; instead, it features a lyrical "Pie Jesu" and a transcendent "Paradisum," while omitting the "Dies Irae" and "Tuba Mirum," which many composers use to showcase dramatic potential with choral and orchestral forces. Consequently, the mood of the Requiem is relatively calm and peaceful, often described as a lullaby of death. Faure's unconventional approach has made this composition a beloved piece in the repertoire.
