Frank Mitchell one day noticed a peculiar advertisement in the newspaper seeking a bodyguard. He believed he was the perfect fit for the job and, despite his girlfriend Netty's warnings, accepted a position with Henry Sarek. Frank was convinced that Sarek, who was involved in shady dealings, would help him get rich. He was also immediately captivated by Sarek's wife, Rita.
