A Modern Comedy 1

En savoir plus sur le livre

The first part of a novel trilogy by the English author (1867-1933), continuing the narrative of the Forsyte Saga, depicts the life paths of the third and fourth generations of the Forsyte family from 1922 to 1926. Unlike their predecessors, they lack firm life goals and live day by day. The main character is the young aristocrat Michael Mont, who unsuccessfully strives for social and economic changes, and is the husband of Soames Forsyte's daughter, a typical representative of the "modern" woman of the post-war years from the upper bourgeoisie, subordinating love and beauty to the principles of buying and selling.
