This popular Slovak language textbook is designed for English-speaking students. It is based on statistical research of the vocabulary of the Slovak language, selecting 800 of the most frequently used words that represent approximately 80% of any text. Alongside these words, it incorporates grammatical phenomena that are also among the most common in everyday communication. The 15 lessons are structured to ensure that students can easily handle daily conversations on various topics and navigate common situations. The book includes study sections supplemented with useful phrases and a wealth of practical exercises. At the end, it offers a bilingual glossary of the most frequently used words. The author is an internationally recognized professor of linguistics who has taught at universities in Oxford, Sheffield, and Moscow, and has published over 30 linguistic works.
