It is two days after his father's death, and Davis Brand is beginning to suspect a cover-up. Dr John Brand was survived by two sons, the death notice said - so why are there three? Peacefully, it said, but there circustances of his death are murky in the extreme. The Test Match is being played at the Sydney Cricket Ground, near the Brand's house, and Davis's brother Chris, a famous cricketer, is batting to save his career.
