This volume takes an interdisciplinary approach to understanding hotspot volcanism. Written by scientists from around the world, the 47 chapters are mostly concerned with the mechanisms of volcanism. The emphasis is on solving problems with the plume hypothesis, as well as exploring alternative explanations for melting anomalies. The volume features over 150 color illustrations and many more in black and white.
