The English version of the book ‘Spirit of the Union,’ which documents an important era in the history of the UAE as narrated by His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in a unique lecture he delivered last December on the occasion of the country’s 40th National Day. The English version of ‘Spirit of the Union’ book presents a valuable in-depth view into the historical narration by Shaikh Mohammed who stood witness to pivotal junctures on the path to realising the dream state some 40 years ago. Through his companionship with the late Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Shaikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Shaikh Mohammed’s testimony authenticates and corrects important historical facts and sheds light on undocumented details and challenges that stood in the way of establishing the union. The ‘Spirit of the Union’ book in Arabic was well received by Emirati nationals, intellectuals, researchers and residents alike as it presented an invaluable recounting of history from which lessons can be drawn on how leaders tackle challenges in their quest of a higher cause.
