A textbook for learning Pashto and Dari, the official languages of Afghanistan. The selection comprises classical Pashto texts, as well as contemporary Pashto and Dari writings. The volume, compiled primarily for didactic purposes, includes folk literature, literary excerpts written in colloquial language, model correspondence, a few types of printed material, handwriting and the art of calligraphy. The textbook may also constitute, at least partially, an illustration of lectures on the literature and culture of Afghanistan. The latter objective is to be fulfilled, above all, by the texts on the Afghan code of conduct - Pashtunwali. Finally, one may treat the textbook as an Afghan anthology.
