Un détenu du nom de Fénimore Buttercup a été comdamné pour avoir fait de la fausse argent. De plus, il dort dans la même cellule que les Dalton. Buttercup dit aux Dalton qu`il y a un magot de 100 000$ caché à Red Rock Junction près d`un tas de rochers rouges mais en réalité il y a aucun magot de caché. Les Dalton s`évadent et s`en vont à Red Rock Junction. Ils vont s`apercevoir que les rochers sont à l`intérieur des murs d`une prison. Ils vont essayer de se faire juger par le juge de la région, mais ce juge ne condamne personne. Il y a seulement des condamnés venant de l`extérieur qui sont admis dans cette prison. Ils vont entrer dans la prison en creusant un tunnel. Pendant ce temps, Lucky Luke surveille les Dalton à distance. Luke se demande aussi pourquoi le juge de la région ne condamne personne. En entrant lui aussi dans la prison, il découvrira un saloon pour les prisionniers qui sont à l`intérieur. Luke se fera prendre mais la cavalerie arrive et va démenteler le tout. Le juge et les Dalton iront dans une vraie prison.

Poprvé se setkává s neuvěřitelným stopařem Tramtabumem, který ho od té doby bude doprovázet při mnoha dalších dobrodružstvích na Divokém západě. Lucky Luke je dnes už legendární postavou francouzského komiksu. Jeho autorem je duchovní otec Asterixe, slavný francouzský humorista René Goscinny. Lukovy příběhy (jichž je více než 70!) se odehrávají převážně na divokém západě a hlavní hrdina se v nich za neuvěřitelných okolností setkává s plejádou falešných hráčů, zlodějů dobytka i organizovaných zločinců, jako jsou bratři Daltonovi, Jesse James a další. Ale ať už situace nutí Luckyho Luka dělat sebekrkolomnější věci, vždy stojí důsledně na straně dobra.

"Arizona 1880" von Morris, veröffentlicht 1946, markiert den Beginn des berühmtesten Cowboy-Helden, Lucky Luke. Zum 75. Geburtstag des Helden erscheint das Jubiläumsalbum Nr. 100, das die ersten beiden Lucky-Luke-Geschichten enthält, die bisher nicht in der regulären Reihe veröffentlicht wurden.
