Diffusion as the process of particle transport due to stochastic movement is understood and presented as a phenomenon of crucial relevance for a large variety of processes and materials. Leading experts in the field, which have come together on the occasion of a WE-Heraeus-Summer School describe in 16 chapters the different aspects of diffusion covering the theoretical fundamentals, the experimental techniques and results for solids, liquids and interfaces. Presenting fundamentals and highlights of current development the contributions address both specialists and non-specialists in the different fields.
