Analysis of the composition and structure of glass and glass ceramics

This book is part of a series on research and development activities by the Schott Group, focusing on the composition and structure of glass and glass ceramics. The scientifically grounded development of new products and processes has always been crucial for Schott, particularly as the scale of operations has significantly expanded since the reconstruction of Schott Glaswerke in Mainz. Given the extensive expertise required, collaboration with customers, universities, and research institutes has been a longstanding tradition. Since 1969, Schott has published numerous technical journals, known as Forschungsberichte or 'research reports,' detailing the outcomes of these collaborations. While these reports provide current information for experts, they may not serve as comprehensive surveys for those less familiar with the subject. This series aims to foster the exchange of ideas and perspectives on the versatile materials of glass and glass ceramics. The goal is to share the knowledge gained through Schott's research and development with scientists, engineers, interested customers, and employees, thereby enhancing understanding and collaboration within the field.
