Improving Men's Health

En savoir plus sur le livre

'Being a man can seriously damage your health'Each year over one-and-a-half times as many men as women die aged 15-64 years. This excess is equivalent to a jumbo jet crash each week. A survey of over three hundred and fifty doctors found that less than half (46%) of men took sufficient care of their health compared to three in five women (60%). Only one doctor in a hundred thought men looked after their health better than women while almost half (48%) thought women cared more. Three in five men are overweight and only one in five get enough vigorous exercise. This book focuses on typical male topics of stress and sensitive issues of testicular and prostate cancer. A specific concern is that while nine out of ten men in the USA survive prostate cancer for five years, this compares to only two in five British men. Some differences may be due to earlier detection methods in the USA, but there is obvious need for improvement. This book has been prepared in an easy to read style to appeal to the general reader while containing data from academic sources.
