En savoir plus sur le livre
This book surveys Edward Weston's work comprehensively, combining biography and critical analysis. It features over 320 meticulously reproduced duotone images, nearly a quarter of which have never been published before. The selected photographs trace Weston's career from his early days through his formative years in Mexico and the remainder of his career, which ended due to Parkinson's disease ten years before his death in 1958. Organized chronologically, the book emphasizes Weston's creative preoccupations during each period, including work he created in 1938 and 1939 with funding from the first two Guggenheim Foundation grants awarded to a photographer. Vintage prints have been selected from the extensive Weston Archives at the Center for Creative Photography and the significant Lane Collection at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Nearly 10,000 photographs were examined to curate those included in the book.
