Known as el quebrado, he faces the struggles of being half islander and half outsider. His unique role as a translator for Captain Bernardino de Talavera bridges the gap between the Taíno Indian language of his mother and the Spanish of his father, highlighting themes of identity and cultural conflict in a tumultuous world.
