Outcasting Armenians

Focusing on the Armenian perspective, this work reexamines the Tanzimat period of the Ottoman Empire, traditionally viewed as a time of reform and equality. Talin Suciyan highlights the voices of Armenians, utilizing archival materials from both the Armenian Patriarchate and Ottoman Archives to illustrate their crucial role in Ottoman society. By addressing the experiences of the oppressed, Suciyan aims to create a more inclusive narrative of Ottoman history, emphasizing the importance of these accounts in understanding the complexities of the era.
