En savoir plus sur le livre
Two great artists seen through the lens of a great photographer. In 1950, renowned portrait photographer and photojournalist Gisèle Freund traveled to Mexico for what was intended to be a two-week stay, which ultimately extended to two years due to her friendship with painter Frida Kahlo and her husband, muralist Diego Rivera. This close relationship provided Freund with intimate insights into the dynamic lives of the artist couple as well as their creative processes. The couple also introduced her to the vibrant life in Mexico and the rich pre-Columbian art of the country. As Freund's archive is currently being organized and digitized, it has yielded numerous previously unpublished images and well-crafted texts, including a color film of Rivera at work.
