    Dear Nemesis, Nicole Eisenman, 1993 - 2013
    • The largest mid-career survey of celebrated American artist Nicole Eisenman, this exhibition features over 120 works showcasing her artistic evolution from the 1990s to the present across painting, printmaking, and drawing. Over two decades, Eisenman has crafted a versatile vision that merges high and low culture with exceptional skill. By blending traditional art-making techniques and a variety of historical influences—including impressionism, German expressionism, and social realism—she explores contemporary themes such as bar scenes, motherhood, and the artist's struggle. Central to her work are explorations of community, identity, and sexuality. Eisenman’s portrayal of women, encompassing both "butch" and "femme" identities, infuses her figurative painting with a bold queer perspective while reframing art history through a feminist lens. Her humor and incisive sociopolitical critique reveal the complexities of the human experience, addressing both the mundane and the absurd. This playful yet visually striking approach highlights the richness of her subjects and invites viewers to engage with her thought-provoking narratives. The exhibition took place at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, USA, from January 24 to April 13, 2014.

    • Cristóbal Lehyt (*1973) is known for his large-scale drawings and sculptural installations. He has exhibited widely in the USA and in Latin America. His works explore the relationship of personal and subjective feelings with cultural influences, but also projections and expectations. Born in Chile and living in New York, the artist is interested in stereotypes about „place,“ and investigates their local and material circumstances. * * This first monograph documents his ongoing project „El Norte“ (The North) as well as a series of site-specific works that he produced for his first institutional solo show in Europe, among them a series of portraits of people from Stuttgart, and an a subjective model of the city. * * Published with the Künstlerhaus Stuttgart.
