This volume continues the comprehensive exploration of mononuclear organotin compounds, specifically focusing on tin-oxygen bonds. It includes detailed discussions on RSn-oxygen compounds with various butyl groups, thoroughly covering literature up to 1985. Previous volumes addressed tin-sulfur, -selenium, and -tellurium bonds. The series acknowledges contributions from various experts and institutions, emphasizing collaborative efforts in editing and indexing. Additional volumes on other RSn compounds are anticipated, expanding the understanding of organotin chemistry.

Focusing on mononuclear organotin compounds with tin-oxygen bonds, this volume is part of a comprehensive series that began in 1975. It details RSn-oxygen compounds, specifically with R being methyl, ethyl, and propyl, while covering literature up to the end of 1985. Previous volumes addressed tin-sulfur, selenium, and tellurium bonds. The volume acknowledges contributions from various professionals for their editorial and research support, and additional volumes on different RSn groups are anticipated.

The significance of organometallic chemistry has constantly increased during the second half of this century. Within this area of research the organotin chemistry reigns as one of the most important branches. The decisive reason for this development has been the wide range of potential application of these compounds in industry, technology, and agriculture. The present volume continues the series on Organotin Compounds, which first appeared in 1975 and now comprises a collection of sixteen volumes. The overall plan of the series has been given in the preface of Volume 1. This volume concludes the description of the mononuclear organotin compounds with tin-oxygen bonds. Treatment of organotin compounds with tin-sulfur, -selenium, and -tellurium bonds appeared earlier in the Volumes 9 and 10. Volume 17 describes in detail the following compound types: RSn(OR')3, RSn(OR')2OR", R2Sn(X)OR', RSnX(OR')2, and RSnX2(OR').
