Elias Ashmole

    Elias Ashmole était un antiquaire anglais avec un penchant baconien pour l'étude de la nature. Sa vaste bibliothèque et ses collections reflétaient un large éventail d'intérêts, de l'histoire et du droit à l'alchimie et à la botanique. Bien qu'il ait été membre fondateur de la Royal Society, acteur clé du développement de la science expérimentale, ses recherches étaient autant antiquaires et mystiques que scientifiques.
