The dissertation addresses the limitations of traditional relational query interfaces in sensor networks (SN), particularly for tracking object movement in applications like wildlife observation and traffic monitoring. It highlights the inadequacies of Moving Object Databases (MOD) in this context due to SN's unique challenges, such as node failures and imprecise spatial knowledge. By defining a comprehensive set of spatio-temporal operators tailored for SN, the work presents an innovative distributed and energy-efficient query processor that enhances query capabilities in these networks.
