This thesis explores Marxist imagery in American horror films and how American society reflects them. Often, the monsters in these films represent the average citizen s contribution to the horror of society, and the heroes represent our quest to overcome them. Using The Texas Chainsaw Massacre as a template, and covering a wide spectrum of zombies, vampires, and the generally insane, this work explores in-depth the role of the viewer in both film and society.
