Lewis Tappan

    Lewis Tappan fut un abolitionniste de premier plan qui se consacra à obtenir la liberté d'Africains illégalement réduits en esclavage à bord de l'Amistad. Ses efforts concertés, y compris l'obtention d'avocats de haut calibre, conduisirent finalement à leur libération après une affaire historique devant la Cour suprême.
