The second edition of this book arrives two years after the first, with only a new introduction added to emphasize the warnings that were evident. The original edition was published in September 2020, just six months after global lockdowns aimed at mitigating the impact of Covid. This was before vaccines, the Great Barrington Declaration, and the alarming data on excess deaths resulting from these policies. The author delved into the history of pandemics, the interplay between infectious disease and freedom, and the origins of lockdown ideology from 2005. The times were extraordinarily strange, marked by medieval-like public shaming, masking, and the cessation of most medical care unrelated to Covid. The introduction of non-sterilizing vaccines exacerbated the situation, compelling many to comply or risk losing their jobs. Reflecting on this in September 2022, the author expresses gratitude for the research completed during that tumultuous period, which now serves as a testament to dissent amidst widespread feelings of betrayal by technology, media, and political figures. The current landscape is fraught with broken supply chains, inflation, cultural demoralization, and uncertainty about the future. Yet, there is hope for rebuilding, exemplified by the establishment of the Brownstone Institute and the global sharing of experiences through published articles.
